Swine Flu is now known as Influenza A (page 15 of LRD - 5 May 2009)

While people are cautious about the eating pork or pork products, they are actually safe for consumption if they are well-cooked. Previously known as Swine Flu, Influenza A is a new strain of virus formed by the combination of viruses from humans, pigs and birds. There is yet a vaccine found for this new strain but we need not despair over it. What we could do is to maintain a high level of personal hygiene and ensure that we take responsibility for our own health e.g. seeing a doctor when we are not feeling well.

For updates on Influenza A, you can visit the World Health Organisation (WHO) website.

In my opinion, eating pork or pork products is fine if they are well- cooked. What we can do is to maintain a high level of our personal hygiene and ensure that we take responsibility for our own health. For example if I sick I would ask my mother to bring me to see a doctor.
