Kids Turn Entrepreneurs (5 Charity and 5 Joy)

Approximately 80 children turned entrepreneurs each day for a duration of nine days when the Sentosa Kidz Flea Market was held during the last March holidays. The items that were put up on sale were either donated or made by the children. While some of the proceeds from the sale were used to buy treats for the children themselves, the rest went to Hospice Care Association (HCA). It was an enriching learning experience for the children and they got to learn perseverance (such as to keep up their energy for the duration of the sale) and how to count the money collected from the sales, just to name a few.

Post your comments on one or more of the following questions:
(1) Why do you think the children donated part of their proceeds to Hospice
      Care Association (HCA)?
(2) Which of our school values do you think the children demonstrate?
(3) What are some of the things which you can do to give back to the society /
      to reach out to others?

1)I guess they felt how less fortunate people would feel. I would've done the same thing if I was them. My family donates to the charity every few months because my mom was moved by this news from CNN(or something like that).
2)Compassion. The children worked hard and they had the passion to become entrepreneurs. They are also commited to their work. So they showed two values of our school. Compassion and ciommitment.
3) We should have more CIP project. Like caring for the elderly or visiting the orphanage. I've always been fond of orphans. Eventhough they don't always have the best of things, they appreciate what they have. EVERYONE SHOULD BE TREATED FAIRLY. GOD MADE US FOR A REASON.

They have done a very good job because they have worked very hard to make and create the things they sold. What is better is that they did not keep the money they collected to themselves but donated them to the HCA. I think that I would love to be imaginative, think of something, make it and finally sell it. i would also donate the money to charities to help innocent children.

I think the children donated part of their proceeds to HCA because they wanted to help the needy families. Cheerfulness and Commitment. They were happy to run the stall and were also there everyday during the 5 days when the flea market is held.We can participate in activities that are similar to this and help someone in need.

The children donated part of their proceeds to HCA because they wanted to give back to society by contributing to those who need help. The money could be used to pay for some of the services or upgrade the facilities.
The children demonstrated the Canossian's School Values of being compassionate to others and commitment to share what we have with those who are less fortunate.
Some of the things we can do include spending our time with the old folks' at the old folks' home.We can talk to them, perform certain cheers for them such as bring them out for a stroll in their wheelchairs, wash them up, feed them and help out in their homes. Unsued clothes and shoes which are still usable can be donated to old folks' for their use instead of discarding them away. We can also donate money to charities.

I think the children donated part of their proceeds to Hospice Care Association(HCA)as they wanted to help the needy. They showed one of our school values,Compassion:
Being kind &forgiving towards self & others, being CHARITABLE & showing appreciation & EMPATHY to others regardless of race & nationality, language & religion, having good social & interpersonal skills. I think that these are some ways that I can do to give back to the society:
-Donate money to the charity
-Help old man/lady or blind man/lady cross the road.

I think the children did a very brave thing in giving up their toys. If I am them, I will surely be not willing to give up my toys. They are very good role models and we should learn from them.

Sureshkumar Reshma from P5-Charity said...

I think they did a good deed by hawking their wares or runnuing game stalls. I think the visitors should donate lots of money for their good deed. They must be tired. I think they need to rest. Most of the times, adults would do so but it it is very kind for the pupils pupils to do so. They are showing that they commitment, compassion and cheerfullness in their heart.

I think that the children donated part of their proceeds to the Hospice Care Association because they wanted to help the children there and improve the facilities so that the children can stay in a better environment.
The children demonstrated commitment as they worked towards exellence and continued to persevere. They put their heart and mind into their work to achieve their goals. The children also demonstrated compassion as they were charitable and generous to others.
We can donate money to the needy or donate other things that we do not want such as; clothes, books or bags. We can also visit the elderly at the elderly home or visit the children at the orphanage.
