Recent natural disasters

Recently, there have been a series of natural disasters in various countries. In Taiwan, Typhoon Morakot caused many homes to be damaged. On Page 6 of LRD (1/9/2209), we read that many Taiwanese have asked their president, Ma Ying-jeou, to resign because they felt that he responded too slowly after the typhoon struck.

In Greece and California, fires also damaged many homes recently. Experts said that these fires were probably caused by hot weather.

In Indonesia on Wednesday, a 7.0 magnitude quake shook buildings in the capital Jakarta and flattened homes in villages closer to the epicentre in West Java.

As you read about all these disasters, what are your thoughts?

If you guys saw the Taiwanese news, Morakot was really very beautiful before and the view was really nice. But now, all the buildings and homes have collapsed into the soil. The buildings were gone too fast. Now you can barely see a building there. Only one building survived in the typhoon.

I think that we should help them by donating things that we do not need.

I feel that a good president should be able to know what to do and how to react quickly in disasters like this. Thus I feel that the Taiwanese president should indeed resign. But if this is his only time reacting like this, I feel that the Taiwanese should give him a chance. He is human with a human brain, after all.

I hope people will donate some things to the people affected by natural disasters so that they will not have to starve.

The people who suffered all the pain and unberable news still could not fine a home. Some even don't have any food!I t must have been sooooo unberable to see their family members, best friends, cousins all swept away from the flood in all countries affected. We are lucky that Singapore has not been hit by earthquakes.floods and tsunamis. We are soooo lucky.
